Yukiko Kakimoto. Interwoven Through Time - Dedicated to Frida KahloⅠ, 2024, Brooch, Unique Piece. materials: Paper, Cotton thread, Glass beads, Brass. L150×W80×T40 mm

This summer, I created my new works for this exhibition. Pain, joy and healing... it was a precious time inspired by Frida Kahlo.

When I think about her very turbulent life. It reminds me that although our lives seem complicated, it is a straight line from beginning to end.We are unique in our makeup as well as in the way we live our lives, and that’s what makes us who we are, I felt like her life was telling us.

These works are made from a single string, just like our lives, and the red thread or beads represents her form of healing (scars).

Love the life you live.

What makes you you?
