Aoshima
For Yukiko, Aoshima in southern Japan has long been a place of deep resonance. The shore, in particular, called to her with an intensity she could not ignore.
Standing on the sand, she became acutely aware of how light, air, texture, and sound converge into a single, overwhelming experience. That moment left a mark she wanted to preserve in her work.
She began to incorporate sand from Aoshima into her jewellery, not as a symbol, but as a material record of that encounter. In this way, the place lives on within her practice, quietly shaping the objects she makes.
私にとって、九州南部・宮崎に位置する青島は、長いあいだ深く響き続ける場所でした。
とりわけ海岸は、無視しがたいほどの強い存在感をもって私を惹きつけていました。
浜辺に立った瞬間、光、空気、砂の質感、そして波の音がひとつに重なり合い、
圧倒的な体験として立ち現れるのを、私は鮮明に感じ取りました。
その確かな記憶を、自身の作品のなかに留めておきたいと思うようになりました。
こうして私は、青島の砂をジュエリーに取り入れ始めました。
それは何かを象徴するためではなく、その地との出会いを刻む「物質的な記録」にほかなりません。
その場所は、私の制作のなかに生き続け、生み出されるかたちを静かに形作っています。
